Events

Two events run by Diaspora HABARI and Alliance Diaspora: one celebrates the people who build, the other measures what institutions offer them in return.

The annual gathering

Spotlight Diaspora

A “Business & Entrepreneurship Network Meeting” evening: careers are celebrated, projects are pitched, and you leave with people to call back.

Format
A two-hour evening: ceremony and encounters
Frequency
Once a year, in December
Date
Saturday 12 December 2026
Venue
Salle Municipale de Bordeaux Nansouty

The Awards

Seven awards given to women and men of the diaspora whose work changes something, here or there.

  • Banking & Finance Personality
  • Culinary Personality
  • Diplomacy Personality
  • Entrepreneurship Personality
  • Medicine & Health Personality
  • Diaspora Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Events Personality

The endowed awards

  • Best Entrepreneur Award 500 €
  • Best Start-up Award 300 €
  • Best Web Audience Award 100 €

The winners are revealed on the night itself. Nominations and recommendations are welcome all year round.

Spotlight Mag

A special issue published for the evening: portraits of the honourees, the projects pitched, and the partners who make the night possible.

It carries the evening well beyond the room: it is what guests take home, and what travels afterwards.

The investment fund

A project owner pitches, in front of the room, a file the diaspora can invest in, with online tracking of where the money goes.

  • Entity domiciled in Switzerland
  • Half-yearly report to investors
  • Annual minutes

The scheme is being set up: nothing is open for subscription at this stage.

The Spotlight Alumni Club

Those honoured in a given year join a circle that meets once a year, in December.

It is the living memory of the programme: yesterday's honourees sponsor tomorrow's projects.

How the evening runs

  1. Welcome and networking — a signature kitchen table, a glass in hand, badges and introductions.
  2. Opening — a word from the leadership, and the point of the evening in three minutes.
  3. The investment project pitch — a file, figures, and questions from the floor.
  4. The Awards ceremony — seven awards, seven journeys told.
  5. Musical interludes — gospel voice, piano and saxophone, a guest artist.
  6. Closing and Alumni Club — a group photo, and what comes next takes shape.
